What is the problem?
Have you ever felt that you are not getting the results that other believers are getting in the areas of your health, deliverance, finances or relationships? Have you ever felt like maybe this faith thing is just not working out for you? Or have you felt like they are special and that perhaps you are not?
I get it, I understand, because I have been there myself. But don’t be discouraged. I use to think all these things and the devil would usually have a field day with me with these thoughts running rampant in my mind day and night. Until I came across one verse that changed things for me. This verse put things in perspective for me and made me understand what I was missing. It really was the missing link to the puzzle. There are actually two verses that pertain to the issue I had.
James 1:22-25 (NLT)
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
Luke 11:28 (NLT)
Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”
For years I would just read the word, get excited and even shout “ Halleluiah!”, but my life remained basically the same. And so a cycle of frustration started. What was wrong? I was reading my word so what was the problem?
The solution to this dilemma
Then I came across these verses and the penny dropped. I wasn’t putting the word that I read into practice. Sure I was reading about it and even memorizing scripture, but I was not doing anything about what I read and learned. So, I kept doing the same things as what I have been doing before and of course, it yielded the same results! I was not getting any victory in any area of life.
Just knowing the word of God will not get you any results. It is when you act on the word and actually start doing what it says that change will come.
Once I started implementing the Word, putting it first place in my life, even when I really didn’t understood why it said what it said to do – I started seeing results, slowly but surely.
Now it didn’t happen overnight. The word is like a seed planted in soil. You plant it, nurture it and wait for it to grow before you can harvest. You don’t go digging up the seed the very next day that you planted it. Same with the word of God. Plant it in your heart by reading, listening and meditating on the word, then you have to do something about it. Put it into practice, then wait for it to produce the expected harvest.
So if you are currently in the same boat that I was in, then I’ve got something to help remind you to put the word into practice.
